Wes Craven has become a legend in the horror movie industry for his innovative ideas on the way horror movies should be made. When people think of horror movies Wes Craven is one of the first people to come to mind due to his way of challenging audiences with his bold vision.
He theorised that bad things would take place where it is least expected such as a school or a hospital. This idea makes the audience nervous for the actors as you wouldn't expect the horror to occur at that location.
This happens in Scream when at the very beginning when Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) is at home and then she gets killed.
He also theorises that the horror will happen when there is no authority around to help the people in the situation. This is shown in his movie 'A Nightmare On Elm Street.' because whilst the characters are in their dreams there is no police officers or any other sort of authority to save them.
Wes Craven had another theory that all of the main victims in his horror movies are young adults abandoned by their parents, often between the ages of 15-25 years old. This is because the characters are the same age as their audience and are also seen as being more vulnerable.
His ideas are still entirely relevant today
