BBFC - British Board Of Film Classification
Who They Are:
The BBFC is a non-profit organisation which its services are measuring the running time of films, DVD's/videos and other media elements submitted for classification. As it is a non profit organisation the fees are only set to cover the costs of services.
The company has one President and two Vice Presidents which are designated the responsibility of classifying videos under the Video Recordings Act 1984. The President and Vice Presidents are consulted in the case of difficult or controversial works or ones that raise particular questions of policy. In order to protect children from unsuitable and potentially harmful content the BBFC evaluates and decides the rating for films before they are released. Each film will fit a certain age criteria to allow the decision to be made. The rating of a film typically involves two examiners who view a film for theatrical release. In most cases the Senior Examiner will confirm the examiners’ recommendation. But if the Examiners are in any doubt or fail to agree, or if important policy issues are involved, the work may be seen by other members of the Board up to, and including, the Director and Presidential team. On some occasions the BBFC will take specialist advice about the legal acceptability of film content or its potential for harm. This was the issue for the second human centipede film was was banned from the UK for a time period due to it's content. The main areas evaluated within films are the issues such as discrimination, drugs, horror, dangerous and easily imitable behaviour, language, nudity, sex, and violence. All of these are considered around the impact it will have on the audience. |
How We Will Rate Our Film:We will be rating our film as a 15 certificate. To do this we must ensure that the criteria for 15 rated films is met. We will do this by not having sexual content. Although it may be portrayed we will not be using it within our film. Violence and Gore is allowed as long as it isn't dwelling the infliction of pain and injury.

Popularity Of Zombie Horrors:From research I am able to confirm that the popularity of zombie horror films is constantly increasing. This is ideal for our production company to create an opening title sequence based on this sub genre as we will not have to worry about there not being a wide audience to broadcast it to.
