The top rated horrors
IMDb was the website that we used to research and look up the top and most popular horror feature films, this is a reliable and trustworthy website as we have heard of the website before. The top rated film in this case was 'The sell out' because we sorted it by popularity it came up first with the rating of 9.8 stars out of 10. This just shows how good the film was or is because the rating is done by customers who use the website and have already seen the films so they give other people an idea instead. The second one was 'Directors cut' this was close behind the first one and it was a rating of 9.7 stars out of 10. The 'directors cut' is a very recent film so is quite shocking that it is second in order of popularity. Some of the other films which were below the ones i have mentioned were also quite recent apart from the odd few which shows the more recent the films are the more popular because of certain things they may have used.
IMDb stands for internet movie data base, its an online database of information for related films which are for related films,TV programs and also video games. IMDb was launched in 1990 by Col Needman and the company was made in the UK as IMDb and published in 1996. In January 2015 IMDb had 3,156,631 titles, this just shows how popular it has become and how well known it has become. The website has been extended so that different categories could be added so their audience could get feedback from other things such as trivia, biographies and plot summaries. By late 1990 the website had near enough 10,000 movies and TV programmes/series and they also had TV actresses and actors listed so that people knew who was featured in the film/programme or a different category they were in.

Metacritic
Metacritic allowed us to get other peoples opinions on horror and the different types of genres of horror so we could find out which was the most popular by an audience. It gave us useful information on what genre was the most popular recently so that we could figure out which is the best for us as we could tell which werent so popular as well.
When you typed something in,in the search bar it allowed you to see what the score was out of 100 and if it was good or bad. It allows you to see how the audience thought of the film and the feedback that people gave about the programme or film. It also gives you a score out of 10 just like IMDb. The circle with a score in is a meta-score which shows you the score people on this particular website gave them. The image below shows the meta-score in the top left by the film title.
Rotten tomatoes
Rotten tomatoes is a website which was launched in 1990 and this is a website which also allows you to rate films and give feedback which i have also on another page but with all these websites it gives you a variety and different comments as a lot of people have their own opinion. By having different websites which we can research films on and look at the ratings it can give us an idea of what the films are like and the genre that we want to choose because we can tell which is the most popular.
